Are are selling my 30 year collection of vinyl.I have over 500+ 33 albums & 45 records from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s & 90’s that I will be listing.95% of them are in NM condition and have barely been played at all.The other 5% are playable but have some faults that we list meticulously. They have all been stored in a temperature controlled environment to keep them from warping. Each record is manually listed and inspected before listing. Each fault is listed as well as any promotional material that is included.Older or rare records that have historical and/or are great entertainment value are “cleaned” and played once to document “playability” before mailing out.My pricing is based from the “Goldmine Records & Prices” book.As well upon recently going to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They are currently selling 45 records for $4.99 and 33 albums at $14.99.If you are looking for something specific please email me and I will look to see if I have it available.
Below I have listed grading policies for vinyl. The first list is a nice combined simple description of what each grade is.Below that is a more detailed description of grading per the Goldmine Records.
Finally, shipping.I have been to other sites and I realize that many sellers are sending out via media mail.In fact one seller even states to beware of high shipping fees.I want to explain my policy.
**I do not ship out media mail. While I am sure it could be fine I have had horrible luck with media mail.I had a customer request in only for it to take over three weeks to get to him upon which he then complained.Technically it is a 4th class shipping method and there is no guarantee to how long it might sit at a particular post station. All albums are shipped out priority mail (this due to shipping weight – anything over 1lb does not qualify for 1st class).I also account for shipping materials which includes either an album box and bubble wrap or a padded envelope with cardboard for extra protection.
It is up to the customer to ask and pay extra for insurance. This is the ONLY way to be reimbursed for lost items.International buyers please not that this is recommended.I will notify you of the day your item shipped, but once it is out of my hands I have no control over delivery.I will always have proof of mailing the item either by a tracking/confirmation number or by the receipt.
Thank you!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.I am very committed to customer service as my feedback will show!
BLUE SKY VINYL’S GRADING of Record:
Sealed- New store stock
Mint (M) - No visible signs of having been played other than the fact that it's been opened.
Near Mint (NM) - Like new or near new with only one or two small insignificant defects, which will be noted
Very Good++ (VG++) - Still a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss but may have a few more light surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks or the like which won’t materially effect play.
Very Good+ (VG+) - A nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.
Very Good(VG) - a well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
Good (G) - Not actually good at all but probably will play through but with much in a way of surface noise, pops, crackles, etc. Still, will have no cracks, chips or the like.
Grading of Covers:
Sealed – New with factory wrapping, may have stickers in place.
Mint (M) – The only thing separating this from sealed is the wrapping is open.
Near Mint (NM) – The wrapping is missing, otherwise Mint.
Very Good + (VG+) – There is a crease in the cover or something else that keeps it from being Mint.I will tell what it is.
Very Good – Will have the beginning of wear.May have name written on it (Will tell of imperfections).
Good (G) – May have split ends, record wear, large amount of writing on it.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT VINYL QUALITY: Many people will buy reissues of past oldies. The era in which the vinyl is pressed makes a big difference to the way it will last and how well it will sound for years to come. Original 50's and 60's used quality materials to produce LP's. Smaller labels used less than great vinyl. A good pressing is often identified by it's thickness. Also the depth of the grooves. These will generally be better for the person who seeks quality originals. There is still the question as to the use of styrene. These are more brittle and damaged easily when played on poor equipment. Finding good playing styrene can only be found by playing them. Some styrene will play better than others. Styrene made 45s are all over the place. When they get worn, the grooves turn a brownish or even white grayish color. They may play but a great loss of dynamics will be noticed as well, more surface noise will be a result. Most records of this nature are worthless.
