REPRODUCTION
This exact reproduction was molded directly  from the original fragile mask using a unique, patent pending technology which exactly duplicates the object without risking direct contact.  This guarantees the safety and integrity of the original antiquity while permitting an exact duplicate to be produced.   The technique perfectly  reproduces the original artifact down to the finest tool marks made by the artist 1700 years ago.  Unlike other reproduction techniques, there has been NO modern recarving  or  reinterpretation of the piece.  It is as it was found.

The original artifact is currently in a private collection and was reproduced by Echoes In Time under exclusive agreement with the owners.

Name:   CHILD'S FUNERAL MASK

BACKGROUND
A handsome Egyptian child of noble birth who died in the flower of youth. The wonder one can see in this funeral mask from 200 to 300 AD, belies the very high children's mortality rate from gastric disorders and dysentery. Living in poor hygienic conditions, children born into this Egyptian world had to endure and survive many diseases borne by their water and food. That such a lovely portrait was made indicates that this child was probably an aristocrat, perhaps of a family of the priestly orders. 

The original mask was made of wood covered with gesso and was discovered by archeologists in a tomb with other mummies, presumably members of the family.  The mask was meant to serve as a reminder of his presence on earth and, more importantly, that the child's face would carry over into his resurrection in the next life.
