French Sterling Silver Gilt Sewing Etui Dreyfous 1910

Magnificent and rare sterling silver gilt sewing etui, made in France circa 1910 by the Rolls Royce makers of etuis, Messrs Dreyfous of Paris.

As is befitting such quality silver pieces, they come cased in their original rectangular tooled rich blue leather bound case with canted corners, the lid and sides decorated in gold with a chinoiserie scene. Indeed, the box is a remarkable piece on it's own.

The tools inside are equally remarkable, each piece superbly gilded and chased with chinoiserie patterns with figures and flowers etc.

The set consists of needle case, bodkin, needle threader, thimble and scissors.

The set is complete and all the pieces are original and being matching French hallmarks and maker's mark which looks like POC in a diamond lozenge.

The Blue tooled leather bound case has a beige velvet fitted base and the inside lid is lined with a cream silk lining with the gold Royal Crown of King George V and Queen Mary and reads 'By Royal Warrants' to His Majesty King George V and also 'To TM (their majesties) Queen Mary and Queen Alexandria'. 'Dreyfous Paris' 128 Mount Street, London and 580 Fifth Avenue New York.

The back of the case is also marked in gold 'Dreyfous - Paris London and New York'.

The case and the tools are all in very good condition. There is slight wear to the leather box but overall it is in excellent condition.

The case is 5-3/4 inches / 146 mm wide and 3-3/4 inches / 95 mm deep. 

This is a superb and very rare sewing etui by the most important maker of the period.

I will post worldwide and I aim to despatch items within 3 days from receipt of payment. Shipments within UK are via Royal Mail Special Delivery next day service. Overseas shipments are via Royal Mail International signed for service. If you require shipment via courier service (eg TNT/UPS etc), this can be arranged at additional cost by mutual agreement.

All items are well packed in brand new carton boxes and appropriate bubble wrap / tissue paper etc.
