Fulgurite Lightning Fused Sand Holey Odin Stone #3

This beautiful little fulgerite is perfectly formed, and has a natural hole clear through it!  Fulgerites sometimes have holes clear through them, because the heat of the lightning vaporizes the internal material and leaves an intact shell.  Fulgerites are somewhat rare, because they break down quickly in nature.  So, in order to find one, you have to be lucky and find it before the forces of erosion return the stone to the sand.  This fulgerite is from the Sahara Desert in Africa.

Stones with natural holes through them are called "holey stones" or "Odin Stones" and are believed to help one's vision, both the ordinary vision and the second sight.  Whether you're a believer or not, stones with holes clear through them are collectors items and wonders of nature.

Fulgerite is a natural glass.  It is said to enhance communication, alleviate distractions, and provide for enhanced concentration.  Because it has withstood lightning, it is said to be protective and helpful in facing one's fears.  It is also said to be good to use in making wands, divining rods, and rain-making.
