nüvi 255W comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with turn-by-turn voice directions, 2-D or 3-D maps and smooth map redraw rates as you navigate. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. In addition, nüvi 255W accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. With HotFix™ satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.

Like the rest of the nüvi 2x5-series, nüvi 255W sports a sleek, slim design and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot. With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you always know your location. With photo navigation, you can download Google™ Panoramio™ pictures via our Garmin Connect™ Photos website and navigate to them. What is a 'Newly Overhauled' (NOH) Garmin GPS?
Answer direct from Garmin: These are systems that have been returned to Garmin from either an end user or dealer that may or may not have been used. Many of the units Garmin gets back from their larger retailers are actually found to be working fine, but end users have returned them for any number of reasons. Whereas some units do come back with real failures. Garmin therefore takes all these units that come back, tests them out and, if necessary, does repairs to bring them back to "like new" status. Garmin also ensures they have the latest software update. These units are therefore as good as new, but since they have been in the field, cannot be sold as new. Garmin then offers them to their dealers at a discounted price and offers a full one year warranty, just as they do on new systems. These systems are not new, but are as good as new.
Folks, You will NOT be able to tell the difference between a newly overhauled unit and a brand new unit.
These units look and function as good as new. Garmin gives them the same 1 year warranty that the brand new units have.
