'Having torn up innumerable R&B clubs with the T-Bones, by the late 1960s Gary Farr had gone in a more pastoral, progressive direction. His classic 1969 solo debut is one of the best singer-songwriter albums to have emerged from the UK underground. A superb set of reflective, acid-tinged ballads, it finds his soulful voice ably backed by his 12-string guitar and musicians including Meic Stevens and members of Mighty Baby and the Blossom Toes. It's presented here as a double LP set, complete with a plethora of non-LP 45s and previously unheard demos, historical liner notes and personal memoirs from Meic Stevens and Farr's long-term partner, Carinthia West.'

'After disbanding The T-Bones in 1967, Farr recorded a single with Kevin Westlake (featuring Martin Stone of Mighty Baby on lead guitar) and an excellent album for the Marmalade label, which was folk-rock tinged with psychedelia, Take Something With You is a decent reflection of the era.
