For auction is a stamped stainless steel builders plate from a General Electric GTEL 4500 H, better known as a "Big Blow', because of the loud gas - turbine that was their prime mover. This particular plate is from engine # 62, construction # 32029, built April 1954.
The plate is in excellent shape; flat overall, with slight marks immediately around the bolt holes, although the bolt holes are completely intact. The lower left-hand bolt holee is turned up slightly. Otherwise perfect shape for a 55 year old plate. There are spots along the edges of the plate with some UP armour yellow visible though the remainder of the paint is mostly worn away.
The top line reads; CLASS B-B-B-B-540/5440-8GE752
The middle lines read; HP 4500 BUILT APRIL 1954
The bottom line reads; SERIAL NO. 32029
The plate is from my late father's and grandfather's collection and has had a good home for many years. Now is the opportunity for it to go to another good home and become part of your collection.

On Nov-04-09 at 13:48:55 PST, seller added the following information:It is possible I mis-spoke when I called this a 'Big Blow'. It may be more correct to call it a 'Veranda', as the 'Big Blows' were numbered 1 through 30.
