This is a wonderful, rare and seldom encountered German Hunting Combination Spanner Powder Flask that dates from the 18th Century. The carved horn body has survived in superb condition and is fitted with a brass spanner for winding a Wheelock mechanism spring. The brass spanner is decoratively enhanced with pretty leafy pieced work that all remains in original condition and has now developed a beautiful deep, rich patina. The wooden base plug is pinned in place by the original bone peg. The top wooden spout is now gone. Overall measuring 10 3/4 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches at the widest. (please note other items shown as props are not included in this auction)
