                            Here we have a very nice 1979 Gibson Standard 'The' SG.   It is 100% original.   The pickups are patent# stamped 'T tops from April of 1979 with the lead pickup referred to as the 'velvet brick'.   The pots are from 1377905 or the 5th week of 1979 making this one of the very early examples of this model which was only made from 1979 to 1983.

The body is a 3 piece walnut with an ebony fretboard.   The frets are in VERY good condition with only the slightest pitting in the first 2 frets.   There are 2 very small holes on the top of the body behind the bridge.   I have no idea why they are there.  Besides some belt buckle wear on the back and some minor nicking here and there the guitar is in general very clean.  One of the seams on the 3 piece body is exposed but the guitar is VERY structurally solid.

The guitar plays just fantastic with no issues whatsoever up and down the neck.   The pickups just scream!!!   I cleaned and seasoned the fretboard, adjusted the neck, and put on a fresh set of GHS .10 guage strings.   This guitar is ready to PLAY!!

The nickel Grovers are aged and in excellent working condition.

Comes with the old style Gibson hardshell case in very good fully functional condition.

She weighs just under 8 lbs.
