The front glass cover is beveled thick glass making the quartz clock's three hands (hours, minutes, and seconds) clear even from across the room. The second hand is a red for high visibility and the clock is mounted on hardwood back. The back of the clock has mounting hole, and porthole can be opened to allow replacement of the quartz movement battery ( 1 standard penlight , not included) - concealed from view to best fit the antique style.
