A NAS unit is essentially a self-contained computer connected to a network, with the sole purpose of supplying file-based data storage services to other devices on the network

These NAS adapters are not much bigger than a C-size battery, yet they can convert any USB 2.0 / 1.1 mass storage device into a Network Attached Storage (NAS), and they come pre-installed with a wide array of powerful features.

You can connect any storage device with a USB interface, so your USB thumb-drives, USB single-card readers, USB hard drives, and USB enclosures can all become accessible over your network. You can connect the adapter directly to a computer's NIC, to a wired router or to a wireless router - giving you complete control over how and where your files are available. You can even use the adapter to move files between a storage device and a computer with disabled or missing USB ports.

The adapter's USB port can power most 2.5" USB drives and any low-power USB Storage device, and the device uses just a fraction of the power required by a laptop or PC. The unit runs on just 5V. It's even possible to configure sleep modes for sleep-mode capable drives.

With these adapters, you can instantly share photos from a thumb-drive or memory card (with a USB card-reader), or files from a portable USB hard-drive on your network.

With a built-in UPnP server (and support for iTunes music streaming), you can even access media from your XBOX 360 or UPnP enabled client.
