Place your bids on this vintage skeletonized, 7 jewel, stem wind and set Shell Oil advertising pocket watch crafted by Girard Perregaux, c. 1940. The skeletonized dial features white Roman numeral chapter markers and auxiliary seconds. The base metal case, dial, hands and crystal are in excellent condition. The Swiss, 7 jewel movement is in working order. The case diameter measures approximately 41 mm. The pocket watch is marked as follows: Dial: "Swiss" Movement: "Shell Girard-Perregaux & Co. Established 1791 Special GXM 7 Seven Jewels Unadjusted Swiss" Case: "Base Metal" The pocket watch comes with a vintage and highly-collectible white metal Shell advertising fob. It is in excellent estate condition, showing minor signs of wear, and measures approximately 5-7/8" long x 7/8" wide. This pocket watch promoted Golden Shell Oil, the first synthetic oil. The oil was so good, it was used to lubricate the works of the watch, which was produced only in 1940. |
