For sale is a 5 PIECE DINNER SIZE PLACE SETTING of the GORHAM STERLING PATTERN FAIRFAX ENGRAVED: Z.
The engraving is flowers and leaves around an oval in which the mongram: EWR appears in script. The pattern has not been made for over 50 years. It was first made in 1910.
This silver was purchased in the 1930's as a wedding gift from J E Caldwell & Co of Philadelphia. It has been in the same family since then. It is in very good to excellent estate condition. There are superficial scratches, normal for wear.
The marks are: GORHAM STERLING PAT and J E CALDWELL & CO. KNIFE BLADE: GORHAM STAINLESS. Dinner fork has the G only and Sterling.
The SPOONS and DINNER FORKS are all marked with an H for HEAVY. WEIGHT OF THE SOLID PIECES IS 5.8 OUNCES ON THE POSTAL SCALE (which is all except knife).
The setting is made of : dinner KNIFE: 9 3/4", FORK at 7 3/4", SALAD (or DESSERT) FORK: 6 1/4", SPOON 5 6/8", and BUTTER KNIFE at 5 1/2".
