Patches from vintage rural dresses from the states of Rajasthan & Gujarat in India have been used to create the collage. Some antique mirrors may be cracked or broken. Hanging Rod and rings NOT included.
About "Banjara" Embroidery
The Banjara (also called Lambanis) embroidery style is specific to the nomad community in the states of Rajasthan & Gujarat in Western India. The stitch used is petite-point & extremely tiny cross-stitch & running stitch is used. Every single inch of the cloth is covered in this very fine embroidery of vibrant colors. Mirrors, wood beads and Cowrie Shell Tassels are added to produce an exuberant effect.
Hanging a Tapestry
- In general, tapestries look best when hung 4"-6" away from the wall.
- Best when matching hanging rod, finials & drapery rings with clips are used. - Ideal viewing distance is 8'-12'. This allows best appreciation of the color, mirror work, bead work & embroidered patterns. - Any creases in the tapestry can be removed by careful pressing in non-steam mode on the reverse side.
