About Team Donovan:
Team Donovan was formed five years ago when our close friend and colleague, Kevin Donovan, was diagnosed with stage IV stomach cancer. For the past five years, Team Donovan has participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event, raising over $180,000 for cancer research (the overall event has raised over $1,300,000 the past five years). Though Kevin is no longer with us, we are all participating again this year in order to continue our commitment to this cause and celebrate our friend.
Relay for Life is a 24-hour community event where teams are formed and money is raised by getting friends and family to sponsor them. Teams get out their tents, camp stoves and sleeping bags and “camp for a cure” on the infield of Redondo Union High School’s track and field stadium in Redondo Beach. Relay also celebrates life with a Survivor’s Lap and Reception, and in the evening, a special Luminaria Ceremony is held where we remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, and honor those who have survived. This year's event is July 19-20 from 9am-9am.
