This is a great old guitar which has been restored to fine playing condition.
Hand made circa 1920 by Antonio Cerrito... this guitar is a precursor to the Oscar Schmidt Stellas.
Ladder braced - 3 top braces - bridge plate goes all the way across and under the square cut kerf lining.
Lower bout is about 14 7/8" wide ... upper bout is about 10 1/2" wide ... body length is about 20 1/2" ... scale length is almost 26 1/4".
Nut width is just a hair less than 1 3/4" - which pretty small for these old Galianos...neck is a very comfortable non chunky "C" profile.
There is pick war on the top however, some french polish has recently been applied to this area in order to protect the wood.
Top is Spruce with fancy inlaid wooden marquetry, back and sides are mahogany.
Neck is a very rare and beautiful tiger striped mahogany.
Tuners are new fancy Waverlys and work great.
This guitar has undergone some restoration including:
Fresh neck re-set ... action now is a hair above 1/8" @ 12th on bass side (top of fret to underside of string) with plenty of saddle left.
Original pyramid bridge has been re-glued and intonation is right on.
Frets have been dressed - plays clean and true all the way up the neck.
All cracks have been professionally repaired and cleated, and a few small cosmetic holes have been filled - remnants of an old temporary tail piece and pickgaurd (there was no major damage like a broken peghead or cracked end block)
This guitar is solid - anything which was loose has been professionally glued.
This old girl has a wonderful tone and is loud! and has tons of vintage vibe and mojo...and also has a great slide tone.
Set up with Martin light (12's) strings and tunes up to standard concert pitch no problem.
This is a player's guitar.
