Garelli Moped Engine Cylinder Cover with Radial Fins.   Does not include mounting nuts and washers, sold separately as crankcase parts 24 and 25.

Garelli Moped Part Number: 205001.3.131.

       This part is from a 1976 Garelli Eureka Flex Deluxe Moped with an odometer reading of 2,346.7 miles and is one of my Garelli moped parts for sale.  The 1976 Garelli moped started and idled and the headlights and taillights worked.  The rear CEV turn signals just barely worked a little at engine idle speed.  The Garelli moped engine had good compression, 120psi, but a broken clutch.  The moped was in good mechanical shape, with surprisingly little rust, and was relatively easy to disassemble.

Product installation:  This is the part the spark plug fits into and it is easy for a home mechanic to replace.  Use a  thin 11mm deep socket or 11mm socket and socket extender bar to unscrew the 4 bolts that hold the cylinder cover or cylinder head in place.  If you don't have deep sockets you will probably need to use a 1/4" or 3/8" extender bar between the 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet drive and a thin 1/4" or 3/8" 11mm socket.
     According to the Dempsey Moped Repair Manual (available online), when you remove and reinstall the bolts holding it in place, be sure to do so in a gradual, balanced fashion, proceeding diagonally from bolt to bolt, and loosening/tightening each bolt the same amount a little at a time.  (I'm guessing this is to keep the piston and cylinder and connecting rod perfectly balanced.)  If you use a torque wrench for reinstallation keep the bolts all lightly torqued to the same level.  (I don't know the recommended torque, but Tomos recommends a light 12Nm torque for their cylinder cover.)
     Also remember that there is a cylinder head gasket that goes between the cylinder head and the cylinder.  Also remember that the probably M7 mounting bolts each have 1 probably M7 washer per bolt in addition to the probably 11mm probably M7 nut.
     Also remember to insert the cylinder cover or cylinder head right side up.  I presume the spark plug should tilt up when its inserted from the outside into the spark plug thread hole.

Product Condition:  Used.  I scraped off a lot of carbon buildup from the inside of the combustion chamber.  It could probably use a little more removal of carbon buildup from inside of the combustion chamber.  The outside of it is very dirty and grungy.  It could use cleaning, but dirt here will not affect engine function.  Spark plug threads look good, but you still need to remove some carbon from them.  The engine, even with the carbon buildup, had good 120psi compression, so this is a presumed working part.  Sold "as is".
