Garnier Thiebaut Linge de Maison Dish/Kitchen/Tea Towel from France: LUTIN s'Oie

Frenchmaison is pleased to offer our customers a new line of fine dish/kitchen towels from Garnier Thiebaut, the famous linens maker in France known for its elaborate weaving and colorful designs.

Imported from France for Frenchmaison, this beautiful Garnier Thiebaut Linge de Maison towel is inspired by the motto on a garter surrounding the shield on the Royal Coat of Arms: Honni soit qui mal y pense.

The Order was founded in 1348 by King Edward III of England, who picked up a garter dropped by the Countess of Salisbury at a royal ball and gallantly tied it round his own knee, saying, Honi soit qui mal y pense ('Shame/Evil on him who thinks evil of it').

This towel plays with that famous motto: Lutin s'oie qui mal y pense, which can be translated as "May the Elf be goosed for bad thoughts." A lutin is an elf and besides the lutin, the towel also features butterflies, and a crowned, royal Goose with a pearl necklace. A big thanks to the French members of our Frenchmaison team for providing these colorful and detailed translations and explanations!

Main colors of the towel are various shades of blue. Extra large size of approximately 22" x 30", machine-wash. 100% cotton, Made in France. Towel is authentic, brand new and unused and is perfect for both French country entertaining and Paris apartment city living!
