GENERAL PHILIP SHERIDAN
LINE OF BATTLE

The old engravings are reproductions of paintings and in some cases during the Civil War, photographs. In this way more people could have access to see them. This has to be the very best portrait of the man, certainly that I have ever seen. Sheridan was at Chickamauga, Chattanooga, and Army of the Shenandoah, and finally cut off the Confederate retreat at Appomattox. Lincoln once said that he thought that a cavalry man should be at least 6 feet tall. But he said that in Sheridan's case 5',6" would do in a pinch.

For what you may consider a very pleasant tour, please click on "My Store" and the Civil War section. You will find most gentlemen of the North and South in various renderings, and so very many of the Battles. From the firing on Fort Sumter to Bull Run, Fort Donelson, Shilo, and the siege of Vicksburg, with Grant in the west, then to Gettysburg, where most of the principles will be found as well. All will end with, of course, Appomattox. Just click on the little store button next to Line-of-Battle next to my red door.

This very rare piece has been very carefully archived to assure that this historic piece continues for many generations to come. The process is very complex and entails, cleaning, deacidification, and defungiciding (no foxing, which if left unchecked,is not harmful to the piece but coulds be very much so to you). The image size not counting text and margins is 4 x 5 inches. Winning bidder to pay $7.00 s&h&i.

Please read very carefully. For an additional $65.00 winner may elect having the general arrive one of our 12 x 15 inch museum mounts (as atop) which is an antique gold hardwood frame with matching inner frame (known as a fillet). These are exorbantly expensive to have done custom made (about treble the cost), and are used for our museum endeavor. It will come with the proper hinged hanging mounts and vinyl coated wire & bumpers. All you need is a hammer or a very tough fist. Happy to do it on such an important piece of our heritage.
