 Anyone who plugs into a vintage Marshall and never uses a PLEXI TONE JUMPER is missing half the tones the amp is capable of, probably most of the good ones.

Four inputs gives you the option of the old '60s jumpered input trick. Straight into the bright channel can be too bright unless the amp is wide open. Straight into the dark channel may lack the "sparkle" of the bright channel unless the amp is dimed. So run a Tone Jumper across the inputs. That's counterintuitive because you're connecting inputs to inputs but it works. It gangs the preamps so you're plugged into both channels at once.

  The two-channel configuration presents you with the choice of using them independently, or combining them with the Plexi Jumper cable (which is connected between the bottom input of the one channel and the top input of the other) to allow blending the brighter and darker channels to best suit your style and instrument.  You can also daisy-chain up the 3 heads together by plugging your guitar into the top input of either channel, and then running a longer jumper cable from the bottom input of the same channel to either of the top inputs on each subsequent amp. Hendrix typically did this in concert, using the Channel 1 (High Treble) in put on all his amps. With only one amp, by turning both loudness controls to 10, you can quickly reveal some amazing tones. Not only that, but you're revealing them with the HIGHEST quality cable on the market!
