Georgian Period: 1740-1830 We associate Georgian jewelry with the years when Great Britian was ruled by the four Georges, that encompassed the period from most of the 18th century, to the first quarter of the 19th century (1714-1830's). Influenced primarily by the French. Jewelry from this period was strikingly feminine with a lacy and delicate appearance. A common trait of Georgian jewelry, is the use of silver combined with gold, usually found with all diamonds, giving this period its all white appearance. The main focus was the use of old European, Rose or Single cut diamonds. Sometimes large, high-quality faceted and cabachon colored stones were used as focal points, pearls and moonstones and Garnets were also a favorite. Here is a marvelous example of 18thc Georgian jewelry!! This lovely pendant is set with 12.0ctw of Emeralds, the center stones is 10.3x8.4mm or approx., 4.0cts and approx., 7.0ctw of single cut Diamonds. This is stamped 750 -18K and silver. It measures 3 7/8"L x 2 1/8"w x 3/8"d and weighs 28.0grs. All the diamonds are mounted in silver with gold backing. They are either in prong or bezel settings. The emeralds are mounted in gold, these too are either bezel or channel set. You will see the front of the bale is also accented with diamonds. We have shown this on a 14K chain, but it does not come with the piece. We will let the pictures will speak for themselves. What a stunning piece to add to your Georgian/Victorian collection.
