Here is a figured "Red Maple" Slab with ambrosia streaking ,harvested from Shooting Creek, North Carolina.This particular Slab came from one ugly log and has a variety of burl pockets scattered throughout is surface.There is a burst of figure that goes on and on and the dark lightning bolt pattern of streaks on the natural cream colored background just makes this slab scream!!! There are some cracks around the knots(see the pic's),these are common when drying slabs of this consistency.The branch knots are much harder and dense then the surrounding areas of wood.They can easily be filled with your choice of whatever your comfortable working with.I prefer colored epoxy myself.Please see all 13 pictures,they can be easily supersized twice by clicking on them!What this slab becomes only you know.The dimensions of this astonishing canvas by Mother Nature is as follows:
