Med school costs a lot!..so i'm forced to sell the jewel of my collection. This is ACE2, the second of two prototypes built by Phil Jones at Gibson for Ace Frehley while they were designing his signature series. As you can see it is not the design he settled on, this one being a standard (ie: no binding and a rosewood board), however this makes it the rarest of them all. The face is hand painted and much more vibrant than the production model, and the inlays are real MOP (not the usual cellulose material) as you can see they are fabulous. Also the mahogany used for the body is amazingly resonant and full of great tone. The DiMarzio's are Ace's signature and she plays like absolute butter. The neck is between a '50's and a '68, and feels great. She weighs around 9lbs and of course comes with the original Ace case (not the one with the purple blanket, the one with the logo). I bought this through George Gruhn of Gruhn guitars, and have spoken at length with Phil Jones about this guitar. It will come with a letter from Phil verifying the guitar and that it was delivered to Ace, and part of his collection. Also included is an appraisal from George Gruhn further verifying the guitar and history. It's certainly a great collector piece which I hate to part with, and I won't sell for less than I paid so don't ask. Shipping is anywhere in the USA or Canada only! UPS insured and I won't ship it by ground, it's too valuable to be thrown around in the back of a UPS van.
