Here is an exact copy of a Globe-Wernike Bookcase (Macey) drawer base in solid oak. I have spent a great deal of money having the cutters made to create these exact copies of these sought-after, turn of the century bookcase bases. The bottom is the hardest piece to find since they were often put in the basement and rotted over the years. I have seen drawer bases go for huge amounts of money on Ebay. The bottom is the least visible part of the bookcase...these bases will stain and finish so well that no one will be able to tell the difference...for much less than what you would pay for an original. These have the notch on the bottom to accommodate molding, and have the design on each end where the metal bands fit. You can see it fairly well in the picture. Like I said, they are just like the originals.
This auction is for either size "C", "D", or "E" in standard or 3/4 size. If you buy one, you will need to tell me what size you want.... There are three pictured. The first is a regular "D" in quartersawn oak. The next is a 3/4 size "E" in poplar (easy to stain imitation mahogany), and the third is a size "C" in genuine mahogany. Buyer pays actual cost for Fedex shipping to the lower 48 from Cornelia, GA 30531. These are completely assembled. They will be carefully packed and insured. There are no knobs included, but exact repros are availible for $5.00 each. When you make the purchase, please send your phone number for the Fedex invoice. I usually ship once a week, and most of the time it is on Mondays.
If you have an odd sized bookcase or one of the large file units, I make bases, tops and doors for those, too. Please email me with your needs..
I also have other components for these bookcases...knobs, hinges, and side straps and even exact reproductions of the oak channel for the bottom of each stack (in case yours is warped or broken). Check out the quartersawn doors I have listed. Please ask any questions before bidding.
NOTE: I make each of these to order. I also sell them locally and ship all over the world. As a result, it normally takes a week or so (sometimes two) to get these shipped. I appreciate your patience.
Thanks!!
