Title: Allgemeines Lexikon der Bildenden Künstler von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart. Unter Mitwirkung von Mehr als 300 Fachgelehrten des in - und Auslands 37 Bande Author: Ulrich Theime Publisher: Veb E. A. Seeman Verlag - 1965 Size: Small Quarto (10.25" x 7.5", or 26.25cm x 18.75cm)
Ex-Library, Complete set, spanning volumes 1 through 37 (I through XXXVII). It covers artists from ancient to modern, and was made possible by the cooperation of 300 German-taught scholars. Half bound black leather with black and white marbled boards. Gray fore-edges. A very attractive set. These are ex-library, but have no markings other than two reference labels on the spines, a pencilled reference number on the copyright page, and a small ink checkmark on the corner of the title page.
These books have very good exteriors, sturdy and attractive, with few exceptions. There is some wear to several of the bottom corners. Mostly just gentle rounding or small dents. A few have tiny chips or tears. Only a few upper corners have chips, and just a few are rounded. A very good reference tool, at a very good price.
- The spine of Volume XXIX has a heavy concentration of small spots, as if sprayed, or it may be a defect of the paint finish. A few books have light scuffing on the spine ends.
- Volume XXXV has a scuff on the front board, and some leather has been torn from the spine in an attempt to remove a label. Interiors are like new with few exceptions.
- Volume XI has a mildly rounded corner, causing the first several pages to also round, and 4 pages have a small top fold.
- Volume XII has 3 small bottom corner folds.
- Volume XIV has a heavily wrinkled page 596, from the bindery, with a few bottom corner folds.
- Volume XXXII has a badly folded title and first page, with a two inch tear to the title page.
