Godzilla (Toho, 1954). Japanese B2 Poster (20" X 28.5"). In 1954, Toho Studios introduced what was to become the longest-running film series in history; 28 films to date and featuring one of the most famous screen monsters of cinematic history. The creature was unleashed in Japanese theaters in 1954, three years before the heavily edited version hit American screens with added American footage starring Raymond Burr. So why wasn't the Japanese version shown here? The film is a trenchant anti-war and anti-nuclear testing screed that would have been way out of sync with the Cold War vibe of mid-'50s America. Offered here is the original 1954 Japanese one sheet. This is the first time any poster has been offered in an American auction from this original 1954 release, let alone the impossible to find original Japanese one sheet! THIS MOVIE POSTER HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY LINEN BACKED AND IT WAS ORIGINALLY IN MINT CONDITION WITH ONLY ONE FOLD. Estimate: $60,000 - $85,000.
