The coral bead is surrounded by gold plate lettering of the Tibetan Buddhist prayer mantra, om mani padme hum. The ghau measures approximately 1 5/8" high x 7/8" wide. Ghau amulets were traditionally worn by pilgrams and used to carry an image of Buddha, prayers, or Tibetan medicine.
