Gold Panning Paydirt From The Cargo Muchacho Mountains

Please remember:

#1. Nobody lives out here in the Cargo Muchacho Mountains. Just like when we are up in Idaho or at Rich Hill in AZ, we are camped out in a very remote area that the mailman does not visit. We need to take the paydirt to the post office and it is a long way over some very rough roads. Therefore, we only ship out paydirt on Fridays. If you want your paydirt shipped out within a day or two, then only bid on an item that ends on a Wednesday or Thurday or buy your dirt from someone who digs it in their back yard and gives it to the mailman every day. Our paydirt is the real deal and all bags that are paid for on or before Thursday get shipped out via Priority Mail on Friday when we go to town. If you can't give us a feedback score of 5 for prompt shipping then please do not bid.

Nugget and I have given up many of the comforts most people enjoy but we love what we are doing. I find that being able to provide an authentic prospecting experience to those who otherwise couldn't do so is very rewarding. We have done a lot of research and covered many many miles searching for good places to find gold. You can do yourself a favor and help us by buying a bag of our paydirt.

We add a little gold so nobody gets skunked but everyone has a real chance at finding a few pickers or a nice nugget because there is real natural gold here and we do not go through the dirt before we ship it out.

#4. Last but not least, all of our 5 pound bags will ship in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box. We charge exactly what the post office charges us. If you can't give us a 5 for reasonably priced shipping then please do not bid. We are not shipping daisies here. We are shipping heavy bags of dirt. If you have read this far, then please note that we can fit up to FOUR 5 pound bags in one of these boxes. Any additional bags that you win will ship for free provided they ship with the bag that you paid the shipping on. Just ask for a combined or corrected invoice. 

Having said all that...

The Spanish were the first to discover the Cargo Muchacho gold back in 1780. That was before California was even established. "Cargo Muchacho" means Loaded Boy. Legend has it that two Spanish boys discovered gold here and came back to their camp with their pockets full of gold.

There are many gold mines in and around the Cargo Muchacho Mountains including the American Girl Mine, the Golden Cross Mine, the Hedges and Tumco Mines, the Padre Madre Mine and the Golden Bee. In 1914, Tumco was the 2nd largest gold mine in the US but the gold produced at the American Girl Mine eventually surpassed them all. We have taken many samples from this area and tested them for gold.

Last year, we found several areas which contained a promising amount of gold and finally came upon some exposed bedrock which held some nice gold and other heavy minerals. We had lots of happy customers last year and we expect this year to be even better. We will continue digging at this spot again this year.

People buy gold mining concentrates from us because they know what they are getting. Most buy them to pan out the gold but others buy them to test their mining equipment whether it is a trommel, highbanker, sluice, dredge, recirculating sluice, mini sluice, blue bowl, shaker table, drywasher or automatic panning wheel like the Desert Fox or Miner's Wheel. Regardless of how you are going to get the gold out, we hope you will be very pleased with what is in our concentrates. I am known as Dakota Slim on several online prospecting forums. I have been prospecting in the western states with my dog Nugget since 2004 and belong to several mining clubs. Through research and tips from other successful prospectors, I have been able to find gold and other valuable minerals in Arizona, California, Nevada and Idaho.

Placer gold occurs in many areas in Arizona, California, Idaho and Nevada. In some places a large reserve of placer gold still exists but the lack of a permanent water supply for conventional placer mining operations requires the use of expensive dry or semidry concentrating methods to recover the gold. That is why the gold is still here. We seek out those places and are continually checking them for gold. Panning is the last step and we save that for you.

Gold panning is a great indoor or outdoor recreation and fun for young and old. It is fairly easy to learn how to pan for gold but we recommend that you classify your material first and then pan over something that will catch any gold you accidentally wash out of the pan. Any old tub or plastic container will catch the water, gravel and any gold you spill.
