Up for auction is a vintage 12 piece sterling place setting. The set is lightly used. Indications are that it is from the 1950's or before. The set includes a protective silver satchel. This satchel, named "Silverfile", has indiviual, soft cloth sheaths for most of the pieces. It has been the repository of the set for decades, as the original box is missing. The satchel shows some wear. The set originally had 12 cocktail forks but 11 are missing, as are 6 of the original 12 iced tea spoons. The set does, however, include 12 Place Knives which are about 7 inches long, 12 Place Forks, 12 butter spreaders, one solid sterling master butter knife and 12 teaspoons. The 12 butter spreaders and place knives have stainless steel blades. Two tiny salt spoons are in new condition and on the scoop portion appear coated with a gold colored metallic substance. There are also two, what appear to be, serving spoons, as well as various other solid sterling utensils of who's correct use or name I am not sure. Though undoubtedly "vintage" the set has seen very light use. The back of the King Edward design handles each has a smooth empty space, where a monogram could go. No monograms are present. I have taken many photos so, collectors and buyers, please inquire for any added information you may need or to correct me on any inacurracies in my description as I am by no means knowledable on silver flatwear. The pieces are relatively untarnished shiny, smooth and without dents, knicks or scratches. I weighed the sterling silver pieces minus the knives and butter knives because they have steel blades. The sterling pieces weighed 4lbs 4ozs.
