An Original and Genuine
Antique English Victorian Gothic Revival 'Green Man' Cupboard w/ Drawer Above, in Superbly-Carved Quartersawn Ebon-Oak, Full-Width Drawer w/ Green Man Handle, Carved w/ Lions Heads, Judges & Wolf's Head, Cupboard Lockable w/ Orig Key Supplied, Dating to c.1880..!
SHIPPING COST IS $195 TO ANY ADDRESS IN THE 48 STATES
It is a magnificent and strikingly-carved piece, see 6 pics above and 10 below.
It features an overhanging top with floral-carved edge over a full-width gadrooned drawer with carved face of the 'Green Man' or 'Spirit of the Forest' handle, a mythical pagan figure representing Nature.
The drawer is fully hand-dovetailed, a sure sign of quality, and one opens it by inserting one's fingers in the Green Man's mouth and pulling!
To each side of the drawer are superbly-carved lions heads over judges below, on fish-scale carved stiles terminating in lions feet at the bottom over an egg-and-dart breakfront plinth.
The door has a central carved wolf's head with Jacobean Revival applied moulding around it.
That door is lockable with the original key supplied, and it opens to reveal a single shelf.
The sides and door are true-paneled, and this stunning Victorian period piece is not small, measuring 34 1/4" wide by 21" deep by 41 1/2" high.
It is a heavy piece but, thankfully for you, shipping cost is fixed at $195 within the 48 states!

'The Yorkshireman Antiques & Collectibles' always has the esoteric and unusual English items we're renowned for. The one thing we DON'T have is reproduction. EVERYTHING we sell is original and genuine, as anyone who has ever bought from us knows very well.
I am English, and my wife and I go to England regularly and buy EVERY item ourselves. We do NOT buy pre-loaded containers. Every item we offer has been found by us, haggled-over and bought by us, carried, wrapped and packed in a container by us and then shipped to the US by us. We control the quality of what we buy and we know the source of EVERY item we sell.
Our particular interests lie in Arts and Crafts Mission items and Art Nouveau, though we have everything imaginable, from c.1600 to the 1930s.
N.B. Please be aware that ALL the items we sell are at least vintage and often truly antique. Vintage and antique items HAVE flaws, e.g. scratches, marks and wear and tear. We try to describe our items accurately, detailing the flaws we consider worthy of separate mention, but our opinion of condition remains subjective. We do not mislead and include all the information we have regarding an item's condition within the auction listing.
Unfortunately, we are not experts, in anything. We are knowledgeable in certain areas, but we are not authorities in any field. Remember, one man's tarnish is another man's patina..! If an item is 80/90/100 years old, it is NOT new and will not LOOK new - but isn't that part of an antique's charm and value..?
