THE CATHOLIC FAMILY BIBLE

This beautiful copy of the Holy Bible was published in 1953 by John J. Crawley & Co. Inc, New York. The first eight books and the book of Psalms from the Old Testament and the entire New Testament are in the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. The remaining books are in the Challoner-Douay text. the Bible is 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" X 2 1/4" thick, 1500+ pages plus the family record (blank) and several maps with indexes. This is truly a wonderful Bible, I found the tops of 4 pages clipped and there is some very light cover wear at the corners but the gilded top of the pages looks new, the red ribbon marker  is still firmly attached. The brown cover is intricately embossed with a gold cross in the center of the front. The box is not in very good condition- one side is totally torn at the seams, but it has done it's job well, the Bible is in excellent conditon. The end flap of the box is stamped "GUTENBERG (CATHOLIC FAMILY) EDITION". Filled with full color illustrations, it is hard to describe the beauty of it.  This would be a welcome addition to any collection or library.
