Dear Hammond
organ fans,
Aging Creates
Performance & Sound Degradation
Today, in 2009, things
have changed for these vintage instruments. Most
of these Hammonds and Leslies are no longer in
quite the shape they used to be in their younger
days.
Of course, due to aging components, the
deterioration and degradation of the sound and
performance has become the undesirable
vintage Hammond and Leslie reality.
Despite the fact that they were built with extremely
high quality standards, many components had a life
expectancy of 15 to 20 years . . .
. . . So, that means that even the last Hammond B3
from 1974 now needs maintenance and restoration to
get back in shape.
.
. .They have become so Dull and Lifeless that it
sounds like the Leslie has been wrapped in carpet.
. .
In fact, some
Hammonds and Leslies just don't scream any more!
Many of them lack punch and brilliance and sound
as if they've been muffled...
Others lack a lot of bass, too, not to mention
all the audible "HUM" "BUZZ" and "POPS",
which should be out of the picture, but somehow they are
now associated with these antique instruments.
So what's left to enjoy?
Let's face it... A B-3 could be compared to an old
'55 Cadillac!
Both of them are
classics. But to keep them alive they require some
maintenance from their owners...
"My B3 Doesn't Scream As
Much As It Used To..."
By
talking with long-time Hammond and Leslie owners
I have discovered that I was not the only one who was
deceived by the sound of these instruments.
I was shocked by the comments from veteran owners of
these instruments, namely, the people who had acquired
their Hammonds back in the early 1970's.
These guys were now criticizing the same tone
degradation and overall performance of their
instruments through the years.
They were all saying things like: "I don't know what
happened to my B3 but now it doesn't scream as much as
it used to 20 years ago."
So I had to find what the critical audio components
were, to make sure I replaced them.
When I consider the time and energy that I have
committed to discovering what I know today, I
realize that it is not only valuable but almost
priceless.
WARNING!
Trying to
repair restore and improve the sound and performance of
your Hammond and Leslie can often be a long and
difficult struggle...
(Unless you get help
from a winner...)
The time and money I have
invested will certainly benefit you by skipping
the learning curve to make sure that you don't make the
same mistakes that I did and to make sure that you
succeed the first time!
As you already know, we play
music to express our emotions and
feelings and we use the organ as a tool to
communicate those emotions.
When the organ doesn't sing or scream or doesn't have
the punch you need, how can you express yourself?
If you are not sure, just listen to
the organ solo in the song "Evil Ways" from Santana. You
will know exactly what I refer to. Just hear that
FAT, BIG and RICH sound and expressive scream that
can only be produced by a Hammond and Leslie in top
shape!
However, if you want
to be bored, just play an original vintage B3 and Leslie
that has not been restored...
They've lost Bass,
they lack Treble...
They now give off a lean, flat mid-range sound...
I have played on many B3s
that just didn't deliver because of many technical
problems. Not only is it boring to play on those
instruments, but it can be very frustrating too,
especially when you know what you are missing.
In my opinion, the Hammond B-3 and similar organs are
probably one of the top keyboards in the world that has
that range and potential to express various human
emotion intensities.
But sadly, when they sound bad the message
won't be transmitted, so they are not much better
than any clone out there.
My 14
Years Of Experience Rebuilding Hammonds and Leslies is
Yours Risk-Free
If you own an
original vintage Hammond and Leslie, I am sure that you
can relate to what I said previously. You hear them on
the radio, live on stage, or on late night television
programs, and the same instrument seems to sound and
perform so much better than your equipment.
I have been in that position before and I always
wondered why my organ didn't sound as good as the
professionally recorded ones , until I discovered this.
My expertise
in Hammond and Leslie restoration began in 1994
because of the frustration with the difference in tone
from an original 1958 B3 in comparison to the organs I
could hear in concerts and on professional recordings.
I started intensive research to find out why that organ
would not perform and sound as good as theirs, and how I
could bring it back to life. I have discovered that all
of these touring Hammond organs and Leslies were
restored to factory specifications.
That's why the sound was so good! Because these guys
were rebuilding the electronics in the organ and in the
Leslies.
Today, there are shops that specialize in the
restoration of these vintage instruments, mostly for
professional touring organists. After talking with a
great number of Hammond specialists I have
accumulated enough knowledge and tips to restore
these vintage beasts! And you will benefit from that
expertise.
After rebuilding that 1958 B3 and that Leslie 122 RV
with amazing results, I knew for sure that these "beasts"
needed some maintenance because the proof was finally
there. The sound was as good if not better than when
new!
After my restoration, I had finally duplicated the
exact same sound as I could hear on professional
recordings. No "HUM" or funny noises, static "BUZZ" or
"POPS” . . .
. . . just the clean classic fresh drawbar definition
and Leslie tone that we all love!
After that, I started to restore organs for others with
the same success.
But Wait...
I don't
want you to do the mistakes I made by listening to bad
recommendations that cost me so much time and money...
There are tons of guys out there that
claim to be experts, but they are only expert at taking
money out of your wallet!
I don't want you to spend time and money on components
that don't need to be replaced! And you can avoid
this when you have the knowledge that I am about to
share with you.
The First
Category of Technicians: The
Parts
Seller. . .
These guys
don't care about you. They just want to hear the sound
of the bell ringing on their cash register.
Let's
face it...
Many of them have
businesses to run and personnel to pay, so their goal is
to sell as much as possible and fast.
In other words, their job is to try to sell you
parts that you may not really need. Did you ever
take your car into a garage and spend hundreds of
dollars to have it repaired, and later realized that the
real problem could had been fixed for a few bucks?
Well, It happened to me and I was
raging! This manual on CD will help you prevent that
from happening to you.
The Second Category of
Technicians: "The Lazy Museum
Security
Guard"
In my 14 years of experience, I've
talked with many Hammond technicians. The second
category of technicians are the ones who don't want to
work.
Let me explain...
While the first category sells you parts that may or may
not make your organ sound better or possibly worse than
before, the second one likes to keep the Hammonds in
their "Museum state" without any desire to
restore the classic sound.
This group of technicians is usually older and soon to
be retired. They are purists and traditional,
resisting having to restore them back to original.
These technicians will work on this equipment ONLY if
they are dead or broken . . . Despite their vast
experience in the field, I have always been shocked to
realize that after talking with some of them, they were
on a totally opposite spectrum than me!
Why?
That’s because in most cases they are technicians NOT
musicians! Let me explain. Most of them will have the
following mindset, and they will say things like: "It
plays well, it's in mint condition, it makes a sound and
it works. Why bother?"
My favorite answer to them is always the same one...
“I have had an excellent working 1980 Pontiac Trans-Am
with a very aggressive looking red eagle on a glossy
white paint job, in mint exterior condition.
BUT, the car also had rusted floors and transmission
seal leaks, not to mention that I was also buying the
Prestone wholesale!”
Pretty on the outside, falling apart mechanically on the
inside . . .
Of course the average vintage Hammond B3 organs
for sale are no longer truly stock
because the aged components are no longer working at
their proper specs!
So therefore the factory stock sound and electrical
operation has long gone!
In most cases, the technicians won't even realize that
these organs are now a pale imitation of what they used
to be!
Now, before I alienate all the technician community, I
will specify that there ARE a few technicians who care
about the sound quality of these instruments.
Who are they?
In most cases, they are also musicians!
I'm
living PROOF that you can restore your Hammond
and Leslie . . .
. . .
without spending a lot of money!
That's why I have
decided to compile a book on CD-rom on how to restore
the performance and sound of Hammonds and Leslies.
Otherwise, this information may not be available to you
because that kind of information is so hard to collect
and hard on the wallet.
It took me years to discover and to compile that
information and now I share it with you.
The long distance calls that I made to talk to other
Hammond technicians across the country, or the travels
back and forth to the electronic shop to purchase and
try different components, will benefit you.
Sure, it is possible that taking your organ and Leslie
in to a technician may solve your problems but, it is
NOT a guarantee . . .
. . . because I found many technicians in my venture who
just ignored the steps to restore these instruments and
never have restored any Hammonds or Leslies correctly
before!
So choosing your Hammond specialist is a challenge
by itself.
Shipping your equipment to a different state or
province is another painful thing to consider, and I
am not taking into account the hourly fee that will be
charged for the labor!

"Hi Pat! Man that’s a great
guide! This is an extremely
valuable and well-done CD that should be
considered
mandatory reading for anyone even considering '
gettin' under the hood' on a console
Hammond,
especially the B-3.
The detailed, step-by-step instructions and the
clear, illustrative photos offer even a regular
guy like me, a player but certainly not a
technician, a comprehensive roadmap to many of
the most common and beneficial restoration tasks,
as well as some great ideas for ' tweaking ' the
sound of your Hammond.
I sure could have used this guide for the
full-restore I did on a beat-up ol' 1954 Hammond
B-2 over the summer....it would have made life a
lot easier. Honestly, I think anyone will be
glad to have this CD in hand !"
Thanks Pat!"

"Since I need to maintain four organs and six
Leslies in my rental fleet, this CD has come in
handy in order to save trips to the Hammond
tech. I move organs 6 or 8 times a month, and
play in 2 Blues bands and am always having to
tune up something at the gig.
I've provided organs to Monterey Jazz Fest and
Monterey Blues Fest as well as many others in
Central California for 15 years. This CD is a
lifesaver for me. Thanks again,"

"I've been both a
fan of the Hammond tonewheel sound and a
performer on the B3 since 1967. And through the
years I've gained quite a bit of knowledge on
how the systems work and ways to enhance the
sound.
Currently, I'm an authorized full line dealer
for the Hammond Suzuki Organs, Keyboards, and
Leslies in Nebraska, Northern Kansas and
Colorado here in the United States. I am simply
amazed at how the new organs sound and perform.
First though, my
allegiance is with the vintage Hammonds and
Leslies that started it all. But, as we all
know, those systems are aging and keeping them
up to spec is the trick.
As I was browsing online recently I happen to
come across your website and the CD offer. It's
cost and the content that was included sounded
very appealing to me. So, I figured that was
definitely worth the investment and ordered the
Hammond B3 and Leslie Tips Restoration book on
CD.
Much of it I was
aware of and what I didn't know I found very
informative! In fact, a person kind of wonders
if he would have ever found some of this info.
I really appreciate your research! It definitely
will be helpful. Whenever I can sit down and
read information on the Hammond Organ and how to
maintain and tweak the sound, it is always a
treat!!!.
Many Thanks,
Steve"

"Hi Pat!
Thanks so much for all your hard work making
this CD available to guys like me! My 1963 A-102
started going down hill this year. It’s lost all
its punch and high end. I knew it needed some
TLC but I didn’t know where to turn.
I phoned a few service companies, but I wasn’t
willing to pay the amount of money they were
quoting. Then I stumbled across your “Hammond
B3/Leslie 122/147 Improvement & Restoration CD”.
I have no previous electronics experience,
although I can manage a soldering gun.
Your info has given me all the information I
need to restore my Hammond and Leslie 147 back
to it’s original glory! Maybe even better! Best
of all I can do it all myself!!!
(And thanks for helping me out with all the
extra questions via email!)
All the best!"

"Pat,
I just wanted to express how pleased I am with
the results of the info you gave in your CD-rom
that I recently purchased. I have all the
necessary work done except for your tube
substitution tips for the Leslie.
Everything I changed was an improvement and when
I finished it was as great sounding as you
described. I have to give you and God all the
credit for your CD.
This is the sound I have always heard back when
I was playing in bands in the 60\'s up until now.
I never had a B-3 back then just an L-112 and
147 Leslie.
Thank you so much for all your research. May God
bless you and your family to the fullest."

“Pat I have been
looking for a quality Hammond restoration manual
and finally found it. ‘Hammond B-3 And Leslie
122/147 Improvement And Restoration Tips’ is an
excellent guide for how to rebuild major
components in a A100/C3/B3 organ.
I have a 1959 A100 and 1972 Leslie 145 and found
the CD an excellent resource for explaining how
to rebuild the AO-28 preamp and 147 Leslie amp.
I like the fact that offer the rebuild kits and
provides free schematics to go along with the
manual on CD, what an excellent idea!
I really appreciated your appendix section where
you explain basic electronics and how to use a
solder iron to make good solder joints.
This work covers it all and I highly recommend
it to all Hammond / Leslie enthusiasts.
Great Job!”

Table of Contents to help you navigate in this CD.
This manual contains many invaluable "gems" about your
Hammond and Leslie and provides you with a lot more

your instrument to the way you like it to sound in
minutes!
These secrets took me years of frustration, research,
and trial and error experimentations to get the sound
that I wanted!
Hammond
AO-28 Preamplifier Restoration.
In this section, with
the help of many pictures, you will learn which
components are critical and need replacement in
this unit in order to restore the performance and sound
of your AO-28 preamplifier.
You will also learn which components
are most likely to fail under normal operation.
You will also learn that with the use of
new
higher-quality electronic components you will get
a lot
more warmth out of your organ's sound - believe
me!
That's because manufacturers have had time to improve
their product lines since the last Hammond B-3 quit the
production chain back in 1974!
If your Hammond has the "Hums", Funny Noises, "Pops"
and all those annoying noises, you will learn how to get
rid of them and filter them out for a quiet and pure
organ sound.
Leslie
122 and 147 Amplifier Restoration. That Smoking- HOT
Leslie Sound Is Back!
You
will learn, step by step with pictures,
how to restore your Leslie sound to make it scream again.
The Leslie speaker is the long-time companion of the
Hammond organ. It is a VERY important component in the
whole classic Hammond sound.
Even
if the organ you play is in top shape and you play it
through an original vintage Leslie . . .
...chances are that the sound and performance will be
limited!
The classic B3 sound is a combination
of the organ and the Leslie in top condition. You will
learn how to rebuild your amp and
make
it sound better than new!
More
warmth, more volume and cleaner without all the "hum"
that is associated with these antique amplifiers.
Leslie
Dividing Network Restoration:
A Leslie speaker restoration without
the maintenance of this this unit would not be complete.
The Leslie cross-over was designed to split the treble
and the bass channels separately.
Again, due to aging, the original components drifted
from their original value -- masking the true Leslie
sound.
It is critical to check and replace the faulty
components, otherwise your organ sound might be boomy or
muddy-sounding without the definition your Leslie had
when new.
Leslie Treble
Horn Types
You will learn about different types of treble
plastic horns, their different qualities, and
their contribution to the sound of your organ.
What kind of plastic horn do you use for your
Leslie?
If you don’t know the answer you should find out,
because this component makes a HUGE difference
in the tonal quality of your Leslie sound.
Let me tell you a short story about it . . .
I met some "specialist" who laughed at me when I told
them about the horn type.
Driven by their arrogance and strong desire to sound
smart many of them prefer to stay in the ignorance
instead of researching and experimenting it like I did!
You will also learn some simple tricks on how to
adjust the frequency response of your top Leslie driver
and how you could mellow your sound down for more warmth,
for Country Blues or Gospel or make it sound brighter
for Rock and Pop music.
What? A 31-Pound
Leslie Treble Driver?
You will learn that you can install some treble driver
that are a
lot
less fragile than the original V21 in
your Leslie, that weigh 31 pounds but are very sweet
sounding for a Leslie speaker.
If you have to compete with a guitarist with Marshall
stack and need
more power handling this is it.
This little-known driver also will give the organ a
much thicker and fatter tone. The percussion
will be more aggressive, the chorus vibrato
will sound bigger, and the overdrive will sound
sweeter too.
Do you like
Paul Shaffer's sound on Letterman?
If you love the sound of Paul Shaffer's B3 on "The
Late Show with David Letterman", you will be pleased to
learn the secret he uses to make his B3 "bark" for that
special full, open and fat sound!
You will also learn how to adjust the brightness of
your Leslie treble driver to get just the perfect
'bite' that you want, and all that the easy way!
How to get more AM Leslie effect or "wha wha wha" by
changing the organ settings just a bit differently
without leaving the bench!
Easy Step-by-Step Way to Fix The Common
Vibrato Chorus Problem:
One of the most common and very painful problem on
almost all B-3's C-3's A-100's and similar organs is the
huge difference in sound between vibrato chorus
in their "On" and "Off" settings.
Let me explain . . .
You play with one of your favorite settings on
non-vibrato, you select the vibrato. But suddenly, you
pass from a dull, muffled and mellow non-vibrato sound,
to a full bright and loud vibrato sound!
Everything comes to life and it sounds like a real
volume and treble booster for the drawbars!
In many cases, it almost feels like you changed your
drawbar settings! It is normal that the vibrato and
chorus produce a brighter sound than the non-vibrato one
because of the extra amplification stage in the
preamplifier.
BUT it is not very musically pleasing when the
difference between those two options is
too noticeable.
In this
manual, you will learn everything in a user-friendly
step-by-step way with text, as well as pictures using
your own Hammond organ service manual or a Hammond B3,
C3, RT3 organ schematic that I will provide for you
FREE.
You can’t read schematics?
No worries, you will probably turn out to be better than
the ones who can, because this manual has been designed
to be visual and easy to follow!
You will know exactly what to do to fix that problem and
make your
non-vibrato to sound almost
identical and as bright as your vibrato
position.
After this easy upgrade, you will notice just a small
difference in the sound of both channels on your organ
for a natural vibrato-chorus switching.
The vibrato-chorus setting will be slightly
brighter, but not much, so that the switching
between these two settings will become much more
pleasing and natural.
The vibrato-chorus position will just add that
classic and sweet chime to your organ sound
without acting like a drawbar amplifier!
How to Fix the Organ
Volume Drop When The Percussion Switch “NORMAL” is ON -
Step by Step:
Here again, you don't really need to know anything in
electronics at all. I will help you fix one, if not the
biggest, problem that almost all 3-series, A-100 series
and D-100 series organs have.
It is the ridiculous drawbar volume drop when the
percussion “NORMAL” switch is ON.
In fact, on stock organs, the percussion volume
increases, but the organ volume decreases dramatically,
which make this feature useless.
This way, the percussion “ping” becomes too
loud and the organ lacks all of its presence and
bigness of sound.
This is why most organists never really used this option
on these organs. This is also something that
Hammond-Suzuki understood in feedback from their
customers, and they addressed this problem in the
production of new organs.
On the New B-3 as an example, the “NORMAL”
percussion setting will NOT affect the organ’s
volume in any way, retaining a fatter organ sound
with an added aggressive “ping” attack.
I will show you an easy step-by-step way to fix this
problem.
After this upgrade, your organ’s volume will
not drop when you use the “NORMAL” percussion
volume.
This is a pleasant feature you can also have on your
older Hammond organ. This upgrade will give you
much
more sound creation possibilities and it will
change the way you use the percussion!
Percussion Improvement
Part 2
Do you prefer a softer sounding "ping"
like on the older 3-series organs?
Or maybe you prefer the aggressive percussion
sound found on later B-3's?
Once again you are the one who will decide, and I will
give you the information to perform the percussion
volume adjustment on your organ.
This will be particularly useful for you if you play a
Leslie with a modern treble driver in it. These high
efficiency drivers always tend to make the percussion
much louder than it should normally be.
Fixing the
Non-Working Drawbars:
This is something very easy to fix and perhaps some of
you already know how to do. But because it is a very
common problem on all Hammond organs with drawbars,
I had no choice
to include a section on how to perform that in this
manual.
Step-By-Step Way To Fix
Your Hammond B-3 C-3 R-T3 and A-100 Keycombs For Less &
Save Hundreds of Dollars.
The manual will take you by the hand and it will teach
you step-by-step how to restore your keycombs for
close to nothing instead of the expensive
alternative of buying other used key combs.
I will guide you step-by-step not only with text, but
reinforced by pictures that I took for you on my own
organ.
I know that the vast majority of people are not
technicians so my goal was to write a guide that a 5th
grader would be able to use without problems, and apply
the information for him/herself!
So with all the text and images that are in the CD,
anybody would be able to restore his or her keyboards!
This manual will teach you how to restore your keycombs
and give you the touch and feel just as if they were
back to their original new condition.
Imagine yourself playing on a solid keyboard
that is firm, or one that makes NO annoying
plastic noises when you play it!
I remember how I felt after my key comb restoration back
in 1997 and let me tell you this: "It felt great then
and it still feels like that every time I play my organ
since the last 11 years "
Did I tell you that I play Rock music and I am not very
friendly with the keyboards? The first instrument I
learned as a child were the drums, and I find it still
shows in my organ playing style . . .
5
Ways to Get More Bass
Deeper, stronger and louder bass on the
pedals and fatter bass presence on the keyboards is what
I have on the menu for you in this reference manual.
Would you like to get more bass and fatness out
of your organ?
The CD will describe 5 ways to increase the bass
response on all B3s C3s and A100 plus all D100s series.
No wonder many organ parts suppliers are offering bass
booster units for Hammond organs! Because it is a know
fact that they lack bass.
Well, with the information included in that section you
might potentially put hundreds of dollars in your
wallet by NOT spending on one of those
devices.
This works particularly well on B-3s C-3s and RT-3s from
the 1950's; and the other tricks works for ALL models
starting from 1955 thru 1975.
We will take a look inside the preamp and I will
structure the explanations into simple steps
along with diagrams and pictures for an easy
understanding.
This manual will explain 5 different
ways to get more bass so you will have the
option of using just one technique or combine all of
them together to get the most thunder out of your
Leslie!
How to Fix That Dull &
Dark Sounding Organ To
Make It
Sing and Scream Again
If your organ is dark, mellow and muffled-sounding
without the fresh
drawbar definition and
clean,
pure
tone, and brightness without any inductive
humming-
Then you will know where to look for in order to
increase your organ's volume and restore the upper
midrange and treble output to make it sing again just
like it did when it was new!
Due to component degradation, the tone of the organ will
change dramatically and you will hear that all-to-common
common Hammond B3 humming problem.
This is also useful for Pre B-3 organs like models: B-2,
C-2, BCV, BV, CV, BC, M-2, M-3 and all the way back to
the first model A.
How to
Get a Pure Shime
Out Of Your Vibrato & Chorus Sound
There are a lot of Hammonds that suffer from a very dull
and muted vibrato and chorus sound.
Again, because the aged component have drifted from
their original specs, this will affect the quality of
sound of your organ.
I have
experimented with components and value in this field
and I have found, and will share some fresh information
to help you get the optimal sounding vibrato/chorus that
you can get.
Hammond Tone
Generator Calibration & Fine Tuning:
This will probably be the
most
exciting and fascinating chapter of this
work!
In fact, it is the last procedure in the organ
restoration process but essential in getting a great and
perfectly sounding system.
We like to call this procedure the final "Blueprint"
of a newly restored Hammond and Leslie speaker.
Many "Hammond experts" and shops will never even
consider doing this step, which is crucial in any
restoration project.
You will discover the secret we use to get a superior
sounding instrument by recalibrating the tone
generator, either to match with the frequency response
of a Leslie speaker, or an easy and safe way to
recalibrate your tone generator to a new curve that you
prefer!
So many mistakes has been done in this regards by those
before us, which is why I have decided to offer you a
step-by-step guide to help you fine-tune your tone
generator the easy and safe way.
Create a
Graph that Represent Your
Tone
Generator Calibration Curve

No one ever released
that kind of information before!
You will be
amazed by this tool that I will provide you to create
your own unique customized graph made especially
for your organ.
This will show you exactly how your tone generator is
calibrated! This easy to use software that I provide
you for free will be a great way for you to visualize
how your tone generator is tuned in comparison with
other organs!
You will have the evidence and proof that
explains why each Hammonds and each organ age group have
different sound.
Indeed, depending on the year the instrument was
manufactured, similar generator calibration curves
were observed during the production years.
Finally you will learn
the secret about my "Blueprinting"
process that is proven to give you a Hammond and Leslie
that really sound as sweet as the voice of God!
This process is not only fun, but it is very rich in
information about your unique Hammond.
You will learn all the tips that I have discovered
during the last decade about generator calibration and
how it can be easy to improve the sound of your
Hammond and Leslie duo by using my techniques.
Believe me, I have made a lot of mistakes along the way,
but that helped me to create a method that is now
efficient fun and easy!
In a very short time, you will learn all the tips and
the tricks that it took me years to discover. All this
is made easier for you with many pictures and schematics
that I have created especially to help you in your
"Blueprinting" process.
For this chapter, you will have access to a private
section for customers only on the website, where I
will give you FULL access to all my favorites
resources and downloads!
But
Wait...
What? You
Thought That
Paul
Shaffer's B3 Sounded Great?
Paul's organ on the Letterman show sounds pretty good
but I can show how it could be improved and how you
could get a better sounding organ than his!
YES for sure!
If you listen
to the show you will hear that Paul's organ has some
very high pitch shrill response in the high tone
generator notes. This can be heard right on TV!
Tube
Substitutions:
I will also speak about some very cool tube
substitutions on your AO-28 organ preamplifier
and also your Leslie amplifier! Nobody
ever released that kind of information to you before!
More classic
Hammond
B3 Growl:
Would you like to get some more Hammond growl
faster, or get that fat bluesy sound? I am not talking
about the trimmer capacitor here, but just a minor and
easy modification on your amp.
More Pedal and
Keyboard
Bass:
What about more bottom on your organ? If you like that
deep and fat bass presence you will be pleased ! I
promise that you will put the thunder in your Leslie.
More
Definition:
Get a pure sounding organ with a razor-sharp
definition and tone. Perhaps you think that your
organ lack its definition and it is too muddy -
especially in the lower range of the manual.
Perhaps you would prefer your treble driver just to
"float" over the bass speaker when you do some power
glissandos? I know a trick to achieve just that in 2
minutes!
Why Your CD is Valuable
You Might Say?
First of all, imagine
all the
savings when you can perform the work on your
own.
Not having to move a 400-pound organ is reason
enough! Or getting a van or a trailer to bring it to
a technician, who will probably charge you a premium
labor fee to upgrade, fix or maintain your organ, are
other reasons.
Just to give you an idea, here are some price you should
expect to pay a technician when it's time to rebuild any
of these components:
- AO-28 Organ Preamplifier restoration:
$450.00
- Tone-wheel Generator restoration:
$500.00
- Leslie
122/147 Amplifier restoration:
$350.00
Total for just 3 units:
$1,300.00
Price of this reference manual:
$49.95 (at
least 26 times less expensive).
The knowledge you receive, priceless.
These prices are applicable only when your organ is
already in the shop so I haven't included a van rental
or trailer rental, nor your time and effort to move that
elephant!
Now guess what . . .
Even though you would prefer to pay to get your organ to
a tech it would not guarantee you a better sounding
organ...
because most techs ignore how to get the best out of
these instruments and they ignore the tricks and tips
that I am about to share with you!
Don't
look around to find a piece of work like this one . . .
I've already checked. This Handbook is truly unique.
That's right!
There is absolutely no publication anywhere on
this subject that are designed and written for the non
technicians.
As you already know, we play music to express our
emotions and feelings and we use the organ as a tool to
communicate those emotions.
When the organ doesn't scream or doesn't have the punch
you need how can you express yourself?
Most B3s today just don't deliver because of many
technical problems. Not only is it boring to play those
instruments but it can be very frustrating, especially
when you know what you are missing.
Remember some B-3’s are now 53 years of age!
In 2008, would you expect your ’55 Cadillac to perform
like it did when new - without any maintenance?
The B3 and similar organs will need a little attention
and maintenance to make sure they will perform as good
and, in many instances, even better than new.
By giving yourself the instant gift of knowledge you
will save yourself from the same frustration
I went through in the past!
The feeling of control over the instrument you own, and
being able to get the sound you want, will be easier
when you know what to do and you can know all that, if
you order your copy . . .
When I consider the energy that I have invested
to discover what I know today, I realize that it is not
only valuable but priceless. The time and money I
have invested will certainly benefit you.
You will avoid having to make the numerous long
distance calls that I made to talk to reputable
Hammond technicians across the country; or the
travels back and forth to the electronic shop to
purchase different components for trial and error.
The online chats with some Hammond technicians. All
these efforts are packed in this manual and can be
revealed to you in a beautiful CD that has been
professionally edited!
So for the ridiculous price that I am asking, the
quality of information that you are getting back, plus
the money and time that you save -- you are making a
fantastic deal!
Ten years
ago I would have jumped at the opportunity that you have
in front of you right now . . .
Because it
would had saved me a lot of effort trying to discover
all that information on my own.
This CD will
reveal gems to you that took me years to
discover and to perfect.

FAQ:
Q.
Can I print a copy
of my CD, once I run it on my computer?
A.
YES, you can. Print a
copy and put it in a nice binder for easy reference. You
should keep it in the organ bench.
Q. It sounds very good but I am not
sure if I can work in my Hammond or my Leslie because I
can’t read schematics?
A. Since this CD was designed for
non-technicians in mind, you won’t be intimidated by
this work. In fact, if you can’t read schematic that’s
probably even better, because schematics can sometimes
be misleading and even technicians can make mistakes. Of
course, if you are at ease with schematics reading
that’s always good but not necessary.
Q. I am afraid that I will kill
myself with an iron. Do you teach people like me how to
solder?
A. Of course. There is 4-page tutorial
at the end of the CD that will guide you in making
perfect joints. I will also recommend you some videos.
Q. How will I get this work from you?
A. This work will be delivered to you by mail on
a CD-ROM.
