FISH PLACQUE FROM JERUSALEM

 

Beautifully painted porcelain placque meticulously copies tiny mosaics seen in early Roman floors.

 

 

 Depicted are two fish, symbols of early Christianity.

 

 In the center is a floral bowl. It is edged in deep blue with a 1/2-inch border of yellow and orange flowers.

 

At the  bottom it says  ''Aramean work''

 

Five inches diameter.

 

Purchased in  Jerusalem, in 1980.
