Herman Miller Eames Design
Fiberglass Shell Rocking Chair
Eiffel Tower Zinc Base
Maple Rockers
Up for bid is an original Vintage Herman Miller Fiberglass Rocking Chair, designed by Charles Eames. We are approximating the age to be between 1955-early 1960s.
Yellow/Mustard? fiberglass shell is in great condition, with NO cracks, chips or discoloration.
The original tag and markings are on the bottom of the shell.
Zinc metal and wood base is original to the chair.
The shock mounts seem to be in fine condition, and appear to have their original screws.
The maple wood rockers were dirty, so they were sanded lightly, and a hand-rubbed poly-urethane finish was applied.
This is an excellent chair of classic modern design! Comfortable as well.
Approx dimensions: 25"W x 28"D x 27"T

A little history... take it for what you will.
This chair was given to my best friend's family by G.W. Haworth, the founder of Haworth. A direct competitor of Herman Miller. My friend said if he remembered right, it was from an early run produced by Herman Miller in Zeeland. (A neighboring community of where we used to live, Holland)
