Up for auction is an ex-library, pictorial hardcover copy of a beautiful vintage children's book. This copy has all of the usual library markings, including a card pocket in the back cover. It looks as if a prior taped dust jacket has been removed, because there are tape stains in the inner covers. Throughout the book there are minor page tears and handling stains. There are two "puncture wounds" to the frontispiece.

This is a beautiful, descriptive book that encompasses the reality of the lifestyles of people who live seaside. The illustrations are beautiful and "foggy," and the text matches the thoughts of all of the people at the shore--the workers, the vacationing parents, and the children. This is a wonderful vintage book, depicting not only the weather and climate of the oceanfront, but the variety of people whose lives are affected by the weather there. This book was voted by the New York Times Review in 1965 as one of the best illustrated books of the year.
