East meets Hjorth!

large oriental motif lidded vase in stoneware from the Hjorth pottery of Denmark

Circa 1927

marblized glaze underglazed with green and red tree branches - these pieces can be attributed to Hans Hjorth who threw the shape and Thora Hjorth who created the painting

this vase was produced no earlier than 1927 as the introduction of the "stag" mark began after that date

Handmade

Measures apx. 6 1/4" (16 cm) tall and 3 1/8" (8 cm) in diameter at the widest area

wonderful condition

no bumps, blems, bruises or boo-boos with the exception of a repaired break on the rim where the lid meets the jar - apx. 1 1/4" (4.5 cm) long - tight and well repaired - difficult to see due to the crackled surface of the "marbleized" glaze

 bottom marked "L. Hjorth" and the Hjorth "stag"
