| The Mamacoke Works is proud to present: No End Grain Desktop HO Scale Locomotive Case: Base Dimensions are: 16-3/4in. by 4-3/4in. Dimensions under glass (acrylic): 15in by 3 in. All dimensions are approximate and should be within 1/8 to 1/4 inch of actual. This case is a bit fancier than out other desktop case. Instead of being made out of a single piece of wood it is made out of 5 with the base piece framed by trim pieces to cover up ost of the end grain. This increases stability and increases appearance by covering up the end grain on the short ends of the base. I also allowed a bit of the joinery to show at the ends which is pleasing to look at especially since Black Walnut end grain has a great deal of contrast to Black Walnut top grain when finished. The base is hand crafted with a chamfered edge. The top is Laser Engraved to your specifications. There is a close up of the laser engraving in the photos. I like using railroad heralds and manufacturer's information. You can specify whatever you want. I can engrave images as well. The base is laser engraved with track grooves so that the locomotive or rolling stock sits squarely in the case and is less prone to movement. The top cover is welded acrylic which I make and fit to the base. One of the best features of these cases is that it prevents the dust from collecting on your equipment because the base to cover fit is almost air tight. It is much easier to dust a cover than a locomotive. Please note that acrylic canot be cleaned with a paper towel. Microfiber cloth only should be used. I also reccomend Novus Glass Cleaner in conjunction with the microfiber cloth. This buffs the acrylic to glass-like perfection. These display cases are hand built by me with care and affection. I use many 18th century tools to build most of my projects. It is these tools that impart a little "soul" into the final product. This also helps to add a little history and character to each case. The desktop cases are great conversation pieces and allow you to bring your hobby to work with you. The loco in the photo is my brass Central Vermont ALCO T-3a 2-10-4 Texas type. They were the largest steam engines ever to operate in New England. Whats more, CV used to DOUBLEHEAD THEM. Can you imagine what a show that must have been!! This was our centerpiece at the family table at Easter. There are so many beautiful brass locomotives hidden away in boxes, seen very rarely by human eyes. Lets bring them out for the world to see! After all.......thats what they're for!
