| Awesome Holey Rock! This is a piece of vesicular lava rock, and it has a one or more natural holes clear through it. I've put a piece of wire through the hole so that it shows up in the photo. According to Scott Cunningham, lava rock is one of the best stones for protection, provided it's taken in the right way. We have an agreement with Pele, the fire goddess of Hawaii (and, by extension, the Pacific Rim) to gather and distribute her lava rock from the Pacific Northwest area and distribute it, at a reasonable cost for our labor, to those who would use it with respect and aloha (love and good will). This is a piece of vesicular lava, the holes in it are from gas bubbles as the lava cooled. Occasionally a gas bubble forms in such a way as to make a hole clear through the rock, and this is one of the ways holey stones are formed. We have a selection of these stones ranging in size from 3/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch and in weight from 1 gram to about 10 grams. In order to put these stones into groups of comparable stones (so that they would qualify as a multi item listing) we have sorted them into in A, B, and C sizes classes. The main picture shows a representative of this size class, "A", with length between 1 and 1 1/2 inches and weight between 6 and 10 grams. You will receive a random selection of one stone from the second picture. Holey Rocks documented by Wiccan expert Scott Cunningham. Page 119 of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem And Metal Magic: Magical/Ritual Lore: In Eddas, Odin transmuted himself into a worm and slipped through a hole in a rock to steal "the mead of poetry." Perhaps because of this myth, holed stones were known as "Odin stones". Also on the same page; Mr. Cunningham comments that holey stones were hung on a bed post in England to prevent nightmares. Mr. Cunningham also comments that they were worn around the neck, or hung over a front door as a protective talisman. Other legends say that by looking through the hole one can see the fairy realm, or by viewing the moon through the hole, one can divine hidden information. Buyer may pay for this stone with pay pal or money order. No personal checks accepted. Coin is shown in picture for size reference, it is not included with stone. I have seen holey rocks go for as much as US $100 on Ebay -- get yours now!
