Mammoth ivory comes from the wooly mammoth--which has been extinct for over 10,000-25,000 years--and is being dug up in Siberia, Estonia, Alaska etc.. Of couse there is a very limited supply and when they can't find any more your investment in this netsuke will go up. These are the antique of tommorrow. Mammoth ivory has the beautiful cross hatching that elephant ivory has--you need to measure the circles in order to tell one from the other.
