Up for auction is a nice little HORSE fetish carving by well-known Zuni artisan Georgia Quandelacy. This little guy has a silver wire loop on his back so that you can string a chain through it and have an elegant necklace. The carving itself stands just over 1/2 inch tall, about 1&1/2 inches long, and only about 1/4 inch wide He's carved from turquoise with eyes of inlaid jet.
This is an authentic Native American hand-carved sculpture from the Zuni Pueblo in northern New Mexico. In Zuni tradition, each animal has specific characteristics and powers. The horse represents strength, swiftness, and enlightenment. He also possesses healing powers.
