These soapstone carvings come from Cajamarca, Peru located in the northern mountains of Peru it has an artisan population. The men and women who carve these beautiful sculptures obtain the stone from a nearby quarry. While each artisan has his or her own style, every sculpture is one of a kind.
The color can range from a solid white to a deep red or purple.
