METHODS OF THREAD CUTTING - A MACHINISTS MANUAL GUIDE

The original author had an intent upon writing this work. He wanted to describe all of the important types of tools, machines, and methods that had been (up to that time) developed for producing external and internal screw threads.

We believe he accomplished just that.

For any budding machinist, this is a superb piece of information from the turn of the last century.

There have been, of course, advances in technology and tools since the writing of the original. However, there are still many gems of information here for you to use.

HOW TO MAKE A SMALL BENCH LATHE FROM PIPE FITTINGS PLAN

This is a super nice plan from the early 1900's for making a woodworking and light metalworking bench lathe from pipe fittings.

It'd make a great project for any handyman.... and a fine lathe for a fraction of the cost of a store-bought unit.

Here's a quote from the document: "Every amateur mechanic and wood-worker who has a workshop, no matter how small, is anxious to possess a lathe of some sort.

A good and substantial homemade lathe, which is suitable for wood-turning and light metal work, may be constructed from pipe and pipe fittings...."

LATHE WORK FOR MODEL MAKERS WOOD & METAL TURNING INFO

The lathe is an integral part of the model-makers cache of tools. This document from the early 1900's details the use of this amazing tool as it relates to model making and building.

It is chuck-full of information about every type of lathework a model engineer will face. Although the machines look a little different now, the technology works the same and this stuff still works!

Bring your model making and lathe-working skills up another notch with a bit of our ancestors knowledge. These people did know a thing or two about metal and wood lathe-work. They lived during the industrial revolution, after all.

Whether you are a proficient model maker or a beginner, you will want to add this document to your digital library.
