PORTRAIT PAINTING VENERABLE SCHOLAR DULAURENS 1923 ENORMOUS
Absolutely Superb original enormous portrait done in pencil and charcoal signed L. DULAURENS and dated Lille 1923 by the artist, annotated with a dedication by the artist to the scholar whose portrait this is: "à Monsieur Marchal, avec mon plus cordial souvenir" (to Mr. Marchal with my most cordial memories). Overall size including the mat is 23.5 inches x 31 inches; painting size is 17.5 inches x 34.5 inches. Executed with consummate skill, with more than a touch of realism. Done on thick paper collated to carton and surrounded by an attached heavy thick linen mat. The frame did not survive. REMARKABLE One of a kind and nobody else will ever have one anything like it. Purchased in Belgium and imported with a lot of antique drawings and paintings.
