Carles Laughton (1899 - 1962 ) Laughton recieved his training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. His first American film was The Dark Old House 1932. My Favorite is the Hunchback of Notre Dame 1939 Laughtons portraial of Quasimodo is the best. His range of moods as the character are perpetualy believable. To many Laughton is the classic Hunchback of Notre Dame.
This started with an actual life cast mask of Charles Laughton. Then it has been sculpturaly enhanced by me Erick Erickson.
The makeup effects created by Perc Westmore have been duplicated to create a very truthfull display.
The Head is set forward and cocked. He penetrates you with the stare from his one good eye.
All of the original detail of the historic cast has been preserved.
So the work of art you get has a direct link to Charles Laughton.
It's like having Quasimodo right there with you.
I am a fan and do what I do with love that you can see in the final work of art.
I watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame while I sculpted to further infuse the spirit of Laughton as the Hunchback.
The finnished piece is cast in USG's Tuf-Cal gypsum cement, it is fiber filled and has polymer additves to assure it will last forever.
It measures 11" High X 8" Wide X 6" Deep.
It is aproximatly 9 pounds unpacked.
It is finished in black and white so it looks like the film. Then it is rubbed with an antiquing overlay to bring out the detail.
The piece is then sealed with a clear coat to preserve the finish.
Each mask comes with hanging instructions and the screw. Or it can be displayed on the optional stand.
