Halcyon Days Porcelain Teddy Bear Of The Year 1996

This is an exquisitely crafted Porcelain Teddy of the year 1996 by Halcyon Days Porcelain. She is the fourth in the Halcyon Days Teddy of the year series beautifully hand painted in classic shades of Brown wearing an adorable Blue dress accentuated with Pink trim and even a cute little bow on the back. This treasure measures approximately 3" high x 2" long x 1 1/4" wide and is in very good condition. The bottom is stamped HD, England as well as her Paw with 1996.


In 1950, Susan Benjamin opened a tiny antique shop in the Mayfair section of London. Long a fan of antique art, Susan named her shop Halcyon Days.


According to Greek mythology, the kingfisher or Halcyon lays its eggs each winter in a nest floating on the Aegean Sea. The ancient Greeks believed that the bird charmed the waves for 10 days so that her eggs would hatch on a peaceful sea beneath a clear sky. These 10 days, known as the Halcyon Days, came to symbolize peace and happiness.


Halcyon Days was granted the royal warrants of the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen Mother and the Prince of Wales. To this day, Halcyon Days is the only Suppliers of Objets d?art to the royal family and one of only eight firms to hold all four royal warrants.
