Ham Radio:AN/URM-25F RF Signal Generator (10khz-50mhz)

For auction: Refurbished Analog RF signal generator AN/URM-25F. The "F" series was the last iteration of the HF Range URM 25 family of RF signal generators. Frequency Range: 10khz --50mhz, in 9 overlapping bands.  The URM 25F RF signal generator features include;  metered RF output, built in 12 step resistive type  RF step  attenuator,RF Output level is 100,000uv to .1uv, variable carrier level control , metered internal AM modulation  (400 and 1000hz), panel switch selectable and tones accessable via panel BNC connector.  This is a vacuum tube unit.. A frequency counter of some type is  recommend for accurate use . We literally disassemble these into piles of parts, cleaning , replacing parts and hardware as we re-assemble. We have overhauled over 100 of the "D" model, and over 50 of the "F". Unit is  cleaned, lubricated , repainted where necessary and refurbished. Aapproximately 20 old caps replaced, ( including the filter cap in the power supply circuitry.), other repairs as necessary ,hardware replaced as needed, lamps, tubes connectors and other parts replaced when needed.  Power supply rectifier (6X4) replaced with silicon diodes. The "F" has the power supply, voltage regulator tube and circuitry built into the cabinet.   Panel knobs cleaned and knob  indices repainted as needed. Cabinet not repainted.  Aligned and adjusted  as necessary. We do NOT do cross band tracking.  100K uv output level checked with HP-432A power meter @ 50MHZ . RF output attenuator resistive steps checked. No cover or accessories .Unit has been modified to use a standard computer style AC input connector and cord set, (cord set furnished with unit as part of sale). (115VAC/60hz). This unit has no provisions for use on 220VAC.  Copy of URM 25F schematic may be found on the Boat Anchor Manual Archive website.

Case not re-painted, bottom rubber feet replaced if needed (some units did not use rubber feet) .Rear rubber feet (if equipped) not replaced. These RF Signal generators were produced from the early 50's onward until probably the mid 60's. They are quite stable after warm up, and are perfect for those oldie but goodie boat anchor LF receiver trouble shooting, alignment and repair. They would also be quite at home in a lab, a teaching environment or in the ham shack.

These are ex-military units and are designed for long life, rugged service and easy field  repair. The URM family of RF Signal generators was a mainstay for military technicians for over 25 years, are still used today by ham radio operators,   and saw service with the US Navy, Marines and even some versions found their way into USAF inventory.
