Fabulous Pattern for Asian / Oriental fabric - Hanafubuki

Hanafubuki means 'flower storm' or 'rain of blossoms'. Imagine you are standing under the cherry blossom trees in Kyoto when along comes a spring breeze. The blossoms are lifted from the trees and rain down on you. This is 'hanafubuki' and what I have attempted to capture in this asian fabric collage design. As with all of my quilt designs, the sewing is easy. The challenge is to select the fabrics. Many of the fabrics in this original quilt are from the limited edition Emperor's Collection from Kona Bay fabrics.   In the second picture above I show another version of a Kona Bay Emperor's Collection geisha fabric.  But I have repeated the same design with other fabrics, including yukata fabrics which are now available in my store. Fabric guidance is provided in the pattern, which makes a 60" x 78" quilt.

I have been designing quilt patterns since 2002. My designs are characterized by ease of construction, the use of large pieces of fabric, and the use of a large-scale fabric. My trademark design element is the diagonal line, which makes all my designs dynamic, interesting, and somewhat different from traditional quilt patterns. Although I do make use of computer tools in the process, I start all my designs with pencil sketches in my notebook, which is a notebook of gridded graph paper. If it can be drawn on graph paper, it can easily be sewn into a quilt!

Since 2002, I have designed and written over 30 different quilt pattern titles, of which over 50,000 copies have been sold. I've also designed original quilts for many fabric companies.
