The author in the present edtion, not being tied to space or quantity, has had a better opportunity of developing his sporting hero than before. The reader will have the kindness to bear in mind, that the work merely professes to be a tale, and does not aspire to the dignity of a novel," then notes the preface written in London, October 1854 578 pages This blue cloth hardcover is in good readable condition the text is full of color and black & white illustrations/vignettes by John Leech The cover edges have some fraying and shelfwear-this is particularly true of the upper cover at the top of the spine.
