Of Blade Construction
Clay Tempered
This blade is
hand forged by the Japanese traditional method Clay Tempering. The gray
range of above blade is clay covered range. The sword smith covers the
whole blade with clay expect the edge part. The edge of the blade is
heated to red, then it is quenched into water. As a result, the edge
will become hard and sturdy and on the other hand, the part that is
covered with clay keeps the flexibility. After clay tempering, the blade
is left with a slight and fantastic white line, which is the hamon line.
