Mohair/Wool Socks

I am so proud of these socks! They were produced by women owned businesses every step of the way!  And if you have never owned a pair of real mohair/wool socks, you are in for a treat...

I grow the Border Leicesters and  Angora goats. I shear the fleeces. I wash the fleeces. Then they go to another woman who blends, processes and spins my fiber into yarn.  The yarn comes back to me for a rainbow dye process. Then the dyed yarn goes to another woman who knits socks on an antique Civil War era hand cranked sock knitter.  The finished socks are beautiful, lustrous and OH so WARM.

Protein fiber (ie wool, mohair ) socks will last 10 times as long as storebought synthetic fiber socks... and are warmer too, even if they get wet.  I have handmade wool & mohair socks that I have had for 10 years!  Mohair adds strength and durability , as well as luster. Wool adds insulation and memory, so they don't stretch out with time like synthetic socks.

Handwashing is recommended, but gentle machine washing will also work , and then hang or lie on a towel to dry. Dryer is NOT recommended.

You are going to LOVE these socks!   This particular pair of Yarndyed Rainbow Socks measure 9 inches (unstretched) from toe to heel and stretches to about 11 inches.  From the heel to the top of the cuff measures 10 inches.

Should fit a womens size 7 - 9 easily... or a comparable mans size.
